Welcome to Prairie

  • Hello Prairie Friends and Families,

My name is Carly Solberg and I am honored to serve as the Principal at Prairie Elementary School. It is my top priority to ensure that all students at Prairie feel a sense of belonging and spend their days engaged in rigorous learning opportunities so that they can positively impact the world. I believe in leading with a sense of urgency and compassion. I am incredibly thankful to be surrounded by a community that is dedicated to the growth of our students at Prairie.

I have been a part of the School District of Waukesha community since the beginning of my career. I began my teaching career at Whittier Elementary before transitioning to Hawthorne Elementary. At Hawthorne Elementary I served as a teacher, an instructional coach, and as the Principal. I received my undergraduate degree and teaching license from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I received my Master’s degree, administrative license and curriculum director license from Cardinal Stritch University. I received my reading specialist license from Carroll University. I value lifelong learning for myself, our staff and our students. I am thankful for the educational and professional opportunities I have experienced in my career in the School District of Waukesha and am committed to passing these types of high quality learning experiences along to others. I am thrilled to serve as an instructional leader at Prairie.

Currently, I live in Dousman with my family. My husband, Eric, is a Special Education Teacher and football coach at Kettle Moraine High School. We have a son named Phoenix who is three years old. We have a daughter named Zodi who is one and a half. And we recently welcomed our son, Cruz, into the world in September. We also have the sweetest dog named Wiley. Wiley and the kids are the best of friends. We are avid Badger fans and enjoy spending time outdoors and visiting with family and friends. The most important part of a school is the group of people that make up the community. I value building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. I am eager to meet all of our new students and families and welcome back those that are returning!

At Prairie, we strive to live out our vision every day. That vision is: Connect. Grow. Impact. We focus on building meaningful connections with our students and families, we engage all students in rigorous learning opportunities that result in accelerated growth, and we empower our students to positively impact their community. Our team is committed to meeting the needs of every student every day.

I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the upcoming school year. Thank you in advance for trusting our dedicated team to spend our days learning with your students. It’s an honor to be a part of Team Prairie and to have the privilege of learning alongside your children. Go Pumas!
