General Information - Benefits End Date

  • 10-Month Employees – If a 10 month employee leaves employment prior to the end of their assignment, all benefits will terminate at the end of the month of which they resign or retire. If a 10-month employee completes their assignment, all benefits will terminate August 31st of the year in which they resign or retiree.

    12-month Employees – All benefits will terminate at the end of the month of which a 12 month employees resigns or retires.

COBRA Continuation/Leave of Absence Continuation

  • Once the District’s coverage for health, dental, vision and the flexible spending plan ceases, you may elect to continue SDW benefits under COBRA provisions provided by Federal Law. COBRA typically extends for up to an 18 month period if terminating employment.

    Continuation due to an approved Medical Leave of Absence may be available and will be communicated to eligible employees. Please reference the Human Resource Site for District Policy on Leaves of Absence as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Wisconsin Public Employees Retirement System - WRS

  • Employees working in WRS covered positions who are regularly scheduled to work 880 or more hours in a rolling 12 months are eligible for membership in the State retirement plan known as WRS. If eligible, employee participation is mandatory. WRS sends out annual statements that arrive in the Spring. For questions on your WRS benefits please contact them directly at (877) 533-5020.
