Senior Competency Program Image

Who

  • Students in grade 12 that have earned less than 17 credits going into their senior year.  This coursework is designed for seniors that are roughly a year to a year and a half behind their grade level peers.

Program Overview

  • The Senior Competency Graduation Program is designed for senior students who are significantly credit deficient (one or more years behind) and entering their fourth year of high school.  Students work individually and cooperatively through teacher-led lessons that address traditional core academic areas of high school. Students do not fill in ‘gaps’ in their transcript.  Rather, students demonstrate competence in these core areas through classroom instruction.  Enrolled students are also encouraged to obtain and maintain employment in order to remain in good standing and complete 40 hours of community service either individually or through program planned service opportunities.  Students in good standing in this program are eligible and encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, including graduation ceremonies in June.
