Heather Luecke, Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
I have been teaching Early Childhood Special Education for the School District of Waukesha since spring of 2014. I serve preschoolers with special learning needs in our school district beginning at age 3 once they have qualified for special education services through SDW. Before my start with SDW, I stayed home with my own children for 10 years and prior to that, served students in the Early Childhood Special Education program in the School District of Black River Falls (WI) and in the Birth to Three Programs in Dallas County, Texas and Manitowoc County, WI. Originally I'm from southeastern MN and hold a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Educaiton from UW-Eau Claire and a master's degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Child Development from UW-Stout. My husband and I have three boys and our family enjoys camping, watching and playing sports, participating in 4-H, canning and preserving different foods and skiing in the American Birkebeiner in the Hayward, WI area each winter. My favorite vacation spot both as a child and adult is going out west to South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park and was thrilled to get to take my family there several years ago for an amazing vacation! At school, I love serving my preschool-aged students and am thrilled to be their first teacher in SDW! I love building relationships with my students and their families and hope they all know our district has a great spot for all learners, no matter their abilities!
