Hi, my name is Kathy Ballweg. I am a 5th Grade classroom teacher at Banting. I'd like to share with you a bit about myself. I have always lived in Wisconsin and grew up in small, farming community; Highland, WI. Following high school I earned my teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. I received my Math Certificate in 2016 and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in June 2018 from Carroll University. In my 17 years of teaching I have worked with 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. I started my career at Fritsche Middle School in Milwaukee and then I stayed at home to raise my three children. When my youngest son started first grade I returned to teaching here at Banting. I have held many positions at Banting; the PTO President, a Reading Aide, a Title I teacher and now a classroom teacher.
On a more personal note, my husband and I have three children and they all attended Banting, then Horning MS and South HS. All of our children then went on to get their bachelor's degree at UW Madison. Go Badgers! Some of my favorite activities are hiking, cooking, watching movies and reading.
I truly love teaching and I am very excited to begin a new year with your child!
My favorite book series is The Hunger Games. I loved the series and their movies!
