• Welcome to the Hillcrest community. A community that is curious about the world around us and is committed to growing our connections to each other but most importantly, cares about each other.  This is my fifth year as the principal and I find myself amazed at all we can accomplish together every day.  The 2021-2022 school is shaping up to be an exciting and memorable year together. We are so glad you are along for the journey.

My path to being a principal began in 1997 as a middle school teacher in North Carolina. After teaching in Illinois, my husband and I moved to Wisconsin and I began my School District of Waukesha career. I taught 4th, 5th and 6th grade at Hadfield Elementary School and taught in a multi-age classroom at the Waukesha STEM Academy - Randall campus for one year before moving into an instructional coach role. In my time as a coach, serving the staff and families at Hawthorne Elementary and STEM, I was able to work alongside amazing teachers as we developed our instructional practices that focused on project based learning, math workshop and reading workshop. I’ve learned so much from ALL the educators I’ve had the privilege to work with!  In the fall of 2017, I officially became the principal of Hillcrest and I’ve been celebrating ever since!

My husband, Kevin, and I have three sons, who are all products of the School District of Waukesha. Our oldest son, Quinn, is a student at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana in his senior year studying geology. Aidan, our middle son, is a Freshman at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is interested in Computer Science and Math ... but he has plenty of time to change his mind. Our youngest, Owen, is a Freshman at Waukesha South High School. We have always considered ourselves fortunate to have a variety of quality options for schooling for our boys. We know the opportunities we have in Waukesha are rarely replicated in education systems across the country.

I commit to continually improving my expertise to better support the needs of our students. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Montana and then completed my master’s degree at Alverno College. Additionally, I completed the Math Teacher Leader program at Carroll University and then went back for my principal licensure at Alverno. I am also a National Board Certified teacher, recertifying in 2016 for another 10 years.

As a family, we love to travel together. We’ve endured many road trips across the country in the family mini-van. Even though the mini-van is gone and the boys are off to their own adventures, we still love the sense of wonder those trips ignited in all of us. This is our goal for the learning experiences we have at school. We want students to find the joy in learning and the impact that taking care of each other has on our community.

In that, please reach out with any questions or feedback about your experiences at Hillcrest. Better yet, come to our open PTO meetings and help shape the family experience while providing direct support to what happens in our classrooms.

    Take care,

    Faith Lincicum

    Principal of Hillcrest Elementary School
