Welcome to Third Grade!
Third grade will be a year of learning and fun! Our goal is to create an environment where we can learn together.
We hope you're ready for a great year of learning!
I grew up in Williams Bay, WI, and spent my time swimming, boating, reading, biking, rollerblading, playing piano, competing in soccer and volleyball, camping, road tripping, and enjoying the outdoors with my siblings and cousins. I loved school so much that if I wasn't at school, I was often found playing school and convincing my three younger siblings and any neighbors or cousins I could find to be my students. I graduated from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI, with my teaching license, and shortly after I went back to school to get my bilingual license at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.
My husband, Kevin, and I have been blessed with a beautiful little girl, Meleah, who is four and a half; a wonderful son, Jonah, who is two a half; and an awesome dog, Maya, who loves chasing birds, bunnies, and anything else that will run (or fly) away! As a family, we love to bike, swim, hike, and go camping!
This will be my thirteenth year of teaching and my eleventh year at Banting! I have been in third grade for ten years and hope to stay for many many more. I love coming to school each day and learning with my bilingual students. No matter how different this school year may be, I am so excited to start it with your children. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for all of us!
I grew up in New Berlin, WI and fell in love with Spanish when I was in school. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and music. I graduated from Luther College in Iowa with a degree in Spanish and music, followed by teaching in Japan for a year before returning to the US. Upon returning, I studied at Cardinal Stritch for my masters in Urban Bilingual Education and love teaching in a dual language environment.
I am married to Bill and we have two children, Xavier, who is going into 4th grade and Jade, who is entering 1st grade. I love spending time playing games with them and going on bike rides on the trail close to our house in Brookfield. I enjoy reading, hiking and singing in choir.
This will be my 14th year teaching in dual language programs, but my first year at Banting. I have previously taught K4, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade in Racine and Milwaukee. I am looking forward to returning to 3rd grade dual language this year and can't wait to start the year!
This book shows how we all have talents and skills that make us special and important.
