Mrs. Shepherd

  • Hello! My name is Mrs. Shepherd and am an art specialist at Banting. Before I came to Banting, I taught art at Summit View Elementary for 12 years. And before that, I worked at Waukesha South High School for 8 years in the art department and in the T.R.Y. program for at-risk students. My first teaching position was at Catholic Memorial High School, teaching art for an additional 8 years.

I attended college in Milwaukee at Mount Mary College, with a bachelor's degree in art education, plus two years of interior design courses. I earned my master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Carroll College here in Waukesha.

Mr. Shepherd and I have a giant German Shepherd named Ted. We also used to have two goats and two sheep when we lived at our farm.

I enjoy playing and coaching volleyball and pickleball, gardening, antiquing, hiking, traveling, and of course creating art of all types! My most exciting trip was to China with my daughter in 2009.

I can't wait to share my experiences with my students and am very happy to be teaching at Banting!

Favorite Book:

  • My favorite book is entitled Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg and is a story of how it is o.k. to make mistakes in art, and how they can become something wonderful.
