Welcome to Prairie
Hello Prairie Families,
I hope you all are enjoying your summer! My name is Carly Solberg and I am honored to serve as the new principal at Prairie Elementary School. I have been a part of the School District of Waukesha community for nine years. I began my teaching career at Whittier Elementary before transitioning to Hawthorne Elementary. At Hawthorne Elementary I served as a teacher, an instructional coach, a Dean of Teaching and Learning and now as the Principal. I received my undergraduate degree and teaching license from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I received my Master’s degree, administrative license and curriculum director license from Cardinal Stritch University. I received my reading specialist license from Carroll University. I value lifelong learning for myself, our staff and our students. I am thankful for the educational and professional opportunities I have experienced in my career in the School District of Waukesha and I am thrilled to serve as an instructional leader at Prairie.
Currently, I live in Dousman with my family. My husband, Eric, is a special education teacher and football coach at Kettle Moraine High School. We have a son named Phoenix. He is 18 months old. He loves to run, climb and look at books. We also have a dog that we love named Wiley. Luckily, Wiley and Phoenix are the best of friends. We are avid Badger fans and enjoy spending time outdoors and visiting with family and friends. The most important part of a school is the group of people that make up the community. I am eager to learn more about each of the staff members, students and you all, their families.
I have heard wonderful things about Prairie and am incredibly excited to continue to develop the wonderful things that are already happening. I have had the opportunity to meet the staff and their commitment to and compassion for your learners is clear. It’s my top priority to ensure that the students at Prairie feel a sense of belonging and spend their days learning. I believe in leading with a sense of urgency and compassion.
I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the upcoming school year. Thank you in advance for trusting me to spend my days learning with your students. It’s an honor to join this team. Go Pumas!
