Mrs. Becky Newcomer, Principal

Mrs. Newcomer has been Principal at Waukesha South since October of 2018.  Her responsibilities include attending to the academic needs and well-being of all students who attend Waukesha South High School.  She supports the professional development of all faculty members at South and specifically evaluates several teachers from a variety of departments including Student Services and Speech/Language Pathologists.  Mrs. Newcomer leads instructional planning, school improvement planning, budgeting, hiring, capital improvements, etc., and is an active member of several district level committees.

Mrs. Newcomer graduated from Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville, Iowa in 1993 and pursued her undergraduate studies at Loras College in Dubuque, IA where she majored in English Literature and obtained a license in Secondary Education.  While at Loras, she was on the Golf Team, was a Residential Assistant, and worked on campus as a Residential Life Representative and a Psychology Lab Assistant. She graduated in 1997 and was hired at Waukesha South High School where she started her career in Education.  Mrs. Newcomer was a member of the English Department at South and coached Varsity Poms, JV Boys’ & Girls’ Golf, Forensics, and One Act Play, along with several other advisory and leadership positions.

In 2010, Mrs. Newcomer transitioned to the Lindholm Building where she was the Coordinator for the Humanities.  After completing two Master’s Degrees from Marian and Carroll Universities, she joined Waukesha North as an Assistant Principal in 2012.  In February of 2014, Mrs. Newcomer moved to the Principalship at North and remained there until her move to Waukesha South in 2018.

Outside of school, Mrs. Newcomer loves spending time with her husband (Steve), her three children (Cam, Brooke, and Paige), and their two dogs (Scout and Sadie).  She likes to be in the weight room and outside in nature when the weather is warm. She also enjoys photography, golf, and traveling to see her family back in Iowa.

Mrs. Maria D'Amato-Kuche, Associate Principal (A - I) & Academies Administrator

Mrs. D'Amato has been Associate Principal at Waukesha South since 2016. Her duties at South include supervision of students with last names (A - I), supervision of content areas Math, English, Technical Education, Special Education and Family and Consumer Education, Administrator of the Health and Engineering Academies, and Academic and Career Planning (ACP) Coordinator.

Mrs. D'Amato graduated from Alverno College in 2007 with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education and went on to earn her Master's Degree in Administrative Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from the Alverno College.  She started her teaching career in MPS but spent 8 years teaching Math and AVID at West Allis Central High School before coming to Waukesha South as an assistant principal.

Outside of school, Mrs. D'Amato spends her time with family and friends. She enjoys being outdoors with her son.

Mr. Steve Fisher, Associate Principal (J - S)

Mr. Fisher has been an Associate Principal at Waukesha South since 2015.  Currently, Mr. Fisher oversees the dual language program, scheduling, and standardized testing, and is the supervisor for the music, business, foreign language, ESL/ELL, and science departments.

Mr. Fisher graduated from Durand High School in Durand, Wisconsin and received his BME from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While at UWEC he was a member of the football team and played the quarterback position.  He was hired in 1995 by the School District of Waukesha and had the privilege of building the Waukesha North bands, including the nationally renowned marching band program. In 2004, Mr. Fisher was awarded an MA in Education from Mount Mary University with an emphasis in curriculum design.

In 2010, Mr. Fisher transitioned to the Lindholm Building where he was the Coordinator for music, art, and physical education departments.  After completing two additional Master’s Degrees from Cardinal Stritch University (Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction) he became an interim assistant principal at Horning Middle School in 2011.  In 2012 he joined Waukesha West as an Associate Principal, and transitioned to Waukesha South in 2015.

Mr. Fisher is married and has two beautiful daughters.  His daughters are deeply involved in dance, and he fully supports them by being involved in some of their productions.  In addition, he enjoys team sports and outdoor activities.

Mr. Todd Sobrilsky, Athletic Director & Associate Principal (T - Z)

Mr. Sobrilsky has been Associate Principal/Athletic Director at Waukesha South since 2016.  His Associate Principal duties at South include overseeing students with last names (T - Z); supervision of content areas Art, Social Studies, and the PE Department, all Facility Scheduling, and directing 60+ school activity programs and clubs.  As Athletic Director, Mr. Sobrilsky leads our athletic department made up of 29 athletic programs, with 50+ teams and over 100 coaches.

Mr. Sobrilsky graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1980, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in History and Secondary Education from Carroll College (1984), a Master Degrees in Education and Professional Development from UW - Whitewater (1988), and another Master Degree in Educational Leadership from the Marion University in 1999.  He started his teaching career in 1984 in the Mukwonago School District as a US history teacher.  Prior to moving to Waukesha South High School to join the Administrative Team he served as an AP/AD at Brookfield Central High School for 6 years.  Beyond the classroom, Mr. Sobrilsky has also coached all ages as a wrestling, track and football coach, including serving as Mukwonago (1986-1989) and Beaver Dam High Schools (1990-2001) Head Wrestling Coach.

Outside of school, Mr. Sobrilsky enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and actively rooting for the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and all things Bucky Badger, as well as reading a good book.
