Disability Coverage - LTD/STD
The goal of the District’s Disability Insurance Plans is to provide you with income replacement should you become disabled or ill and are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Short-term disability (STD) is voluntary and enrollment is your choice.The District provides eligible employees with long-term disability (LTD) income benefits at no cost to you.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability (STD):
Change in Insurance carrier from Lincoln Financial Group to The Standard Insurance (effective 9/1/23)
Covers 66.67% of your weekly predisability earnings to a maximum of $750/week.
Benefits begin on the first day for injury and the fourth day of illness and continue to the earlier of recovery or nine weeks.
Rates for this voluntary benefit are $0.63 per $10 of benefit
STD benefits will not be paid out by the insurance carrier until all available sick leave is exhausted.
Note: you may not be eligible for this voluntary benefit if you have received treatment for a condition within 12 months prior to your effective date under this policy until you have been covered under the policy for 12 months.
Employer Paid Long-Term Disability (LTD):
Change in Insurance Carrier from Lincoln Financial Group to The Standard Insurance (effective 9/1/23)
Covers 66.67% of your weekly pre-disability earnings, up to a $5,926 monthly maximum benefit.
Benefits begin after sixty (60) days of disability or illness and continue to the earlier of recovery or policy age chart.
