Another successful fifth grade run in books

Meadowbrook boys, girls sweep red division

WAUKESHA — Meadowbrook Elementary School swept the boys and girls races in the red division at the 2018 Waukesha Fifth Grade Cross Country Run on Wednesday.

Meadowbrook’s Ella Drout was the fastest girl runner in 8:43. Her teammates Ava Noe (8:47), Madelyn Farmer (8:51) and Katie Brauhn (8:58) finished second through fourth, respectively.

Meadowbrook’s Joe Merten was second overall in the boy’s race and first in the red division in 8:08. His teammate Asher Kitchener was right behind in 8:11. Riley West finished tied for eighth overall in 8:22.

The Hillcrest’s Abby Finger (8:59) and Brooklyn Henes (9:00) took first and second, respectively, in the purple division. Prairie’s Kaitlyn Einberger was also second in the purple division in 9:00. Bethesda’s Lilly Newmeister (9:16), La yla Graff (9:20) and Averi Sundquist (9:21) all ran well together. Bethesda won the girls purple division team title.

St. Mary’s Ava Labinski was seventh overall and fifth in the red division in 9:02.

Summit View’s Matt Wykpisz was the fastest boy overall and winner of the purple division in 7:38. He led Summit View to the boys purple team title. Borde Engelien was fifth overall and third in the purple division in 8:15, while Eri Standarski (8:22) and Lucas Fuhrmann (8:26) also ran well for Summit View.

Heyer’s Hagen Anderson took sixth overall in 8:16, while Rose Glen’s Ryan Schneider was seventh overall in 8:19. Hadfield’s Mason Messplay and Rose Glen’s Keegan O’Keefe both came in 10th p lace in 8:31.
