WEF Honors Scholarship Recipients & Donors

Close to 100 people gathered at Tuscan Hall on July 23 to celebrate the many partnerships that make the Waukesha Education Foundation, Inc. (WEF)  a great asset to the School District of Waukesha and the Waukesha community.

Throughout the year, the Waukesha Education Foundation (WEF) raises funds through community events to grow the endowed grant and scholarship funds held by the organization. Each spring, the Foundation awards grants to educators and scholarships to graduating seniors.

This year’s Partners in Education Reception was an opportunity for the Foundation to say thank you to annual sponsors and supporters, as well as celebrate the students as they get ready to head off to college. WEF awarded 26 scholarships in 2019, totalling more than $20,000 and has 17 annual sponsors of the Foundation. Students, parents, supporters and sponsors were encouraged to wear college gear to this year’s event.

“Our annual sponsors, scholarship donors and supporters allow us to positively impact our schools and celebrate student success. We couldn’t be more grateful for their support and for them making supporting education an ongoing priority ,” said Lynnette Kalmadge, WEF’s Executive Director. “We wanted to bring them together and celebrate in a fun way.”

Scholarships were awarded this past May to students moving on to both technical schools and four year universities, during programs at each of the high schools. The reception was a celebration to honor these winners.

“There is always a way to get involved, whether a person has students in our District or not,” said Kalmadge. “We hold several events where the community is welcome. There are always volunteer needs. There are always opportunities to allow businesses of any size  to partner with us to support students and teachers. There are always opportunities for individuals or companies to create scholarship or granting funds to support specific initiatives or even honor someone by name.”

Since 2002, WEF has awarded close to $200,000 in scholarships from their endowed scholarship funds and nearly $300,000 in grants to educators.
