Dr. Denise Styer

She is being recognized for her contributions and achievements in the field of Medicine. Denise earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1990, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Psychotherapy in 1995, and finally a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2001.

In 2001, Denise became the Clinical Coordinator of the Self-Injury Recovery Services at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital at Hoffman Estates, Illinois. There she assisted in the development and implementation of the day hospital program.

An article recently published by Denise, “An Understanding of Self-Injury and Suicide”, focuses on the differences between the two traumas. She has also given many presentations and training sessions at local schools and agencies on recognizing the self-injuring adolescent, treatment, and family involvement.
