Dear Lowell Families,
Thank you for your flexibility as we continue preparing and communicating with our entire Lowell community—staff, parents/guardians, and students. I apologize for today’s abrupt change due to the possibility of rain.
Soft Start: As previously communicated, we planned to begin our soft start next week, with students entering through their designated doors between 8:30 and 8:40 a.m. Because we began this process today, we will continue it moving forward to avoid additional changes.
The following doors will be open and supervised:
Door 1: Fifth-grade students and bus riders
Door 2: 5K students
Door 4: 4K students
Door 7: Grades 1–4 arriving through the playground
Door 8: Grades 1–4 arriving through the car line
Teachers will be in the hallways to guide students to their homerooms.
Dismissal Visor Signs: We continue to review family feedback and identify ways to improve safety during dismissal. Today, each family will receive a visor sign in their child’s Thursday folder. Please place the sign on the passenger-side visor during pickup. Please take less than one minute to watch the video [https://youtu.be/q3Q_qZOkW2A].
Final Reminders:
Please ensure your child’s homeroom teacher knows their dismissal plan. All siblings should know where they will meet and which staff member will dismiss them.
Parents/guardians of 4K and 5K students who need assistance with their seat belts should exit the vehicle, unbuckle their child, and guide them to the appropriate staff member wearing a yellow vest. Please then return promptly to your vehicle.
Even when there is no visible line near the back parking lot, please continue down Michigan Avenue, make a safe U-turn, and turn right into our parking lot to join the designated queue.
Aside from all the bee activity, it has been a great start to the school year! Thank you for helping make that possible through your patience and partnership.

Join us this evening as we host an additional parent/community Information Sharing session at 6:00 PM at Horning Middle School. We will discuss our newest Options E, F, and G, as well as our progress to date on this long-range planning work. A QR code will be used to collect questions and then answer them in themed groupings to the best of our ability. Today is a special observance day in Wisconsin. September 11, 2001, is a day that holds profound significance in our nation's history. We want to take a moment to remember and honor the lives that were lost and the indomitable spirit that emerged in the face of adversity.
This day serves as a solemn occasion to pay tribute to the victims, survivors, and heroes such as law enforcement officers and firefighters who demonstrated unparalleled courage and unity during those challenging times.

After reviewing the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the SDW will be closed today, February 22. There is high confidence for two plus inches of sleet and ice later this morning into the afternoon that may cause travel conditions to deteriorate quickly.
Additionally, there will be no after-school activities, and we will continue to watch the weather forecast for Thursday.
Reminder, February 16 is an Early Release day and there is no school on February 17th. Enjoy your long weekend!
