Dear Rose Glen Families,

We want to take a moment to provide you with an update regarding the ongoing water testing at Rose Glen Elementary. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority, and we are committed to keeping our school community informed as we address this matter.

As a follow-up to our previous communication, we have received notice from the DNR that Rose Glen is required to issue a Tier 1 Public Notice to its water consumers as a result of incurring a lead action level exceedance (ALE) during the most recent round of lead and copper compliance sampling.

Our Custodial and Maintenance team, in coordination with district leadership, EMC, and the DNR, is continuing to investigate the cause of the elevated levels. Action steps are already being taken to ensure that we remediate the issue as quickly as possible. The following initial measures are currently underway:

  • Providing bottled water for all students and staff throughout the school day.

  • Replacing all water filling stations throughout the building.

  • Replacing specific pipes connected to the water filling stations.

We will continue to provide bottled water for students and staff until our water quality improves and all test results are within the acceptable range. In addition, we will be increasing the frequency of our water testing to closely monitor progress and ensure that water quality is improving as expected.

We remain committed to maintaining a safe learning environment and will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we work through this process. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
Melissa Nikolic
