What an exciting way to wrap up a successful first year of Embedded Ag, with a delicious meal shared by community partners who came to learn more about the successful collaboration of FACS classes, EE and hydroponics. Our students are learning from, experiencing and enjoying this partnership so much more than we could have ever expected. And we are just getting started!

South High School's AP Biology students visited us for a day filled with river exploration, gardening, live animals and plant ID activities. They also reminded us that you are never too old to have a little fun with a parachute.

Earth Day
Mark your calendar for Monday April 8th - it's the solar eclipse! Solar eclipses happen when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, blocking the sun in a narrow path across the planet. Here in WI we will see up to 90% eclipse (if it’s not cloudy) between 12:50-2:05pm. Grab a pair of safe viewing glasses or make your own and enjoy the view. We can't wait! Learn more about the eclipse and activities here: https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/space/article/total-solar-eclipse

North High School's Chef Foods classes used fresh Fork Farms ingredients in their Farm to Table recipe projects this week. Chives, parsley, basil, oregano, cilantro, onions, lettuce and kale were all grown from seed and used in their chosen recipes. Each forkful was incredible!

The accomplishments of the Embedded Ag program were on display at a luncheon planned and executed entirely by FACS students at Waukesha South today. Erica Yoss and Mollie Haubenschild have grown this program over the last year from a "seed of an idea", and had many successes to share with SDW Board members, educators and staff, WEF members and community partners. Kudos to all involved!

Franklin has been wowing students (and adults!) in our district since 1976 and by the looks of the 4K students at Bethesda last week, he's still pretty good at it! It's Franklin's world, we just live in it.

MEEC: Midwest Environmental Educators Conference This past November, several of our team members enjoyed participating in the Midwest Environmental Educators Conference in the LaCrosse area. Advanced learning, educational field trips and networking opportunities invigorated our teachers and got new ideas flowing! We are excited to incorporate what we learned into our programming!
