Apple Harvest Festival has arrived! There are so many fun fall opportunities for all, we hope you can join us.
We're sorry to say that our "refreshed" seats were unable to be installed in time. Regardless, we have chairs and are excited to welcome you today for a brand new show!

FYI! Earth will pass between the Sun & Neptune. This marks the closest distance between these2 objects. With clear skies, Neptune will appear as a tiny speck in the sky. Even at its closest, Neptune is still 2.7 billion miles away. In comparison, Mars is 140 million miles away.😲

Scarecrow Lane is looking great! Don't forget to bring your creation and set them up by tomorrow! Here's a picture of our friend who is happy to welcome you to Retzer & the Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium!
Tag us in any pictures you may take with our alien at #wherethestarshangout

The dome is looking pretty good, right?! But, unfortunately, we're missing seats. We got word that our newly upholstered seats won't be here in time for Apple Harvest Festival. We are bummed! BUT, we are happy that they will be providing chairs to use for the next week or so.

Don't forget! We will see a partial lunar eclipse tonight! Keep your eyes on the skies between 9:12pm-10:15pm. It will be a subtle eclipse, but still cool to see! The Full Moon will be about 7% bigger than the average full moon! Feel free to share some pics, if you snag any!

TOMORROW NIGHT- our area can see a Partial Lunar Eclipse! Partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's partial shadow & only a portion passes through the darkest shadow. Time Frame- 9:12pm - 10:15pm. Check it out if U can!

We are SO thrilled that Horwitz-DeRemer Happenings can return this week!
We are getting ready for Apple Harvest Festival! Buy your tickets for "Cosmic Questions" at hdplanetarium.ticketleap.com. Otherwise, we'll be selling available seats on a first come basis!

Astronomically speaking, it is a BUSY next couple of days! Keep your eyes on the skies (and our FB/IG pages!) for details the upcoming events:
*Full Moon (and Supermoon!)
*Partial Lunar Eclipse

Happy Friday the 13th! People are superstitious about Friday the 13th & Full Moons. How often do the happen on the same night? The last Friday the 13th full moon was in Oct. 2000 & it won't happen again until Aug. 2049. On average, they coincide about once every 20 years!

Welcome to another ""Thoughtful Thursday!""
Have a great rest of your week, everyone!

Look to the east-northeast for Regulus and Mercury rising together in the morning twilight sky! The pair are separated by about half a degree.

Saturn, the 6th planet of our solar system, will be at its brightest tonight as it rises while the sun sets. It will be visible without the help of optical aids, but you’ll need a telescope to see its rings. Telescope viewers may also catch some of Saturn’s 83 orbiting moons.

Just another reminder that the Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium is CLOSED for the next couple of weeks. So, no planetarium shows today, as the dome improvements are in full swing! We'll be excited to see you again at Apple Harvest Festival on September 21st!

"🌟It's Flashback Friday!🌟
20 years ago....Charles Horwitz (now Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium) was beginning construction at its current location!! Now, it's in the process of getting a "face lift"!
Thanks Great Lakes Planetarium Association for the "blast from the past" memory!

Mercury reaches its greatest western elongation, approximately 18º from the Sun. It is low in E-NE morning twilight sky for the 1st 3 weeks of Sept. & makes its best morning apparition for northern observers in 2024. It reaches peak brightness of 9/13!
