Saturn will be readily visible in the evening sky this month! It rises in the east around 10:30pm at the start of the month, and around 8:30 pm by the end of August.

To celebrate the Retzer Beer Garden, we will presenting the thrilling show ""Rovers, Rockets & Rock 'n Roll! It is a new to our dome & is a one-of-a-kind experience! Showtimes are at 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm and will go on rain or shine!

From July 29-31, the Delta Aquariid meteor shower peaks. This annual event favors the southerly latitudes in the northern hemisphere, though all observers can see some of these slow-moving meteors. The maximum hourly rate can reach 15-20 meteors in dark sky.
Are you interested in becoming an amateur stargazer? We have starter stargazing kits for families to check out & borrow to give it a try for FREE! All you need to do is become a Friend of the Planetarium and you can check out these backpacks and start exploring the night sky.

Did you know that there were higher Tides at New Moon? The greatest difference between high and low tide is around New Moon and Full Moon. And of course, New Moon evenings are the best evenings for stargazing. So, get outside tonight, if you can!

For the next couple of mornings, before sunrise, the waning crescent moon will lie between Venus & Jupiter. The bright star Aldebaran is nearby a& adds to this intriguing celestial scene. On 7- 23, the moon will be below Venus & close to Jupiter.

During his show, Jason shares personal experiences with NASA, recordings from the Martian surface, high resolution audio-video of rocket launches and his own soundscapes set to immersive dome video and animation!
