11am- 3-2-1 Liftoff: Space Adventure of Elon the Hamster
12pm- Legends of the Night Sky: Laser Shows
1pm- Forward! To the Moon
Tonight, check out Saturn in the evening sky. The Moon passes north of the ringed planet around 10pm. In addition, this pairing will be located within Aquarius. You may need to use binoculars or telescope, as Saturn's light may be washed out by the Moon!

Check out the Full Moon tonight!
The 8th full Moon of the year, the Sturgeon Moon, will actually reach its peak brightness during the afternoon hours. However, this full Moon is the 1st of 4 Supermoons in 2024. It is the 3rd of 4 full Moons within an astronomical season.
It is a jammed-packed week. AND, it's your last chance to see a show in the dome before it receives its major facelift for the next few weeks! Especially for laser shows, we HIGHLY recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time.

Don't forget! Look at the early morning sky to see Mars & Jupiter. Two planets together, look toward the east. Mars & Jupiter will rise around the same time in the middle of the night, & climb slowly into the sky before fading from view as dawn breaks.

Mars is heading toward a rendezvous with Jupiter! The 2 planets are getting closer & closer to each other in the morning sky. Tomorrow, in the early morning hours, reddish Mars will pass bright Jupiter in an event known as a conjunction.

It's that time of the summer to keep your
eyes on the skies for the Perseids! You could observe
up to 60 meteors per hour. No need for a telescope
tonight, even in a light polluted area, as you could still
see up to 10-30 meteors per hour! Happy viewing!

A few staff members from @hdplanetarium are attending the Wisconsin Space Conference at UWM today. We will have the opportunity to do a little bragging about our awesome facility! In addition, we were recipients of 2 awards, a Special Initiative grant & an Outreach grant.
It's been busy & we're THRILLED that there have been so many Bridges Library summer reading passes used at our public shows! Quick reminder is these passes are for youth admission. We kindly ask that there is at lease 1 paid admission with any number of Star Reader passes.

Venus is striking once the Sun sets. Standing 3° high 30 min., it shines at magnitude –3.9. It’s an easy object 2 C if U have a clear horizon. For a bit, Venus stands 1° N of Regulus (Leo), a 1st-magnitude star that will require binoculars/ telescope to see. SOURCE: astronomy.com
