Tonight, there's a lot to see in the eastern sky (weather permitting!) The waning gibbous moon will shine near Jupiter and the bright constellation Orion the Hunter. Jupiter will be near the twin stars of Gemini, Castor and Pollux. And the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, will be nearby. They’ll be spectacular and visible through dawn! SOURCE: Earthsky.org

If you're up before the sun, take a peek at Mercury as it rises in the E-SE, about 90 min. before the Sun. It’s bright & will get even brighter early in the month! It's not always easy seeing our smallest planet, but these conditions are favorable, weather permitting!

Did you know that full moons on Thanksgiving are extremely rare? This is because Thanksgiving can fall anywhere between November 20th-30th, while the full moon in November can occur any day in November.

The last time a full moon occurred on Thanksgiving was in 1920. And, the next time it will happen for the entire U.S. will be in 2069!

In case you didn't know, the moon reaches the new moon phase tonight! Therefore, if the weather cooperates, it would be an ideal night for stargazing!

You don't NEED to use anything fancy to see some cool stuff, just your eyes, a sky map/star finder, and some patience!
