Time for another meteor shower! This year, the Ursids are more favorable, with a peak coinciding with a Last Quarter Moon. The Ursids are active between Dec. 17 and 26, and peak early on the 22nd. The radiant, located in Ursa Minor, is visible all night.

Mars, brightening quickly in the constellation Cancer, lies less than a degree south of the waning gibbous Moon. Observers in parts of northern Alaska, northern Canada, and northwestern Europe can see the Moon occult the planet tonight!

Did you know that Orion the constellation is visible to most of the world? It falls between 64°N and 75°S, and tonight the Orion Nebula is perfectly placed for viewing, right here in Wisconsin!

At 11am, we'll offer our newer show ""Let It Snow"" for our younger audiences. Later at 1:00pm, we'll feature ""Mystery of the Christmas Star,"" with a star talk.

Again tonight, if the conditions are right, you could potentially observe the Geminid meteor shower! Find a dark place to observe and enjoy! They only come around this time each year.

The KING of meteor showers peaks tonight, the Geminids. However, please know that tonight is the peak, & the approaching full moon will interfere strongly with viewing. Though it might be cold, you may still want to get outside to take a peek.
