The Leonids shooting stars are visible between Nov. 6 - 30, and peak the next night or two, with up to 10 meteors per hour.
It is called the Leonids because its radiant, or point in the sky where the meteors emerge from, lies in the constellation of Leo!

It's Fun Fact Friday! Did you know that the dwarf planet Haumea has the shape of a flattened disk due to its very rapid rotation around its axis? One day on Haumea lasts only about 4 hours, and it is the fastest-rotating celestial body in the Solar System.

Here’s a new twist on Thursdays… Thankful Thursday!
We’re incredibly grateful for everyone supporting the Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium’s initiative, “Don’t Let the Planetarium Go Dark.” 🌌
Your generosity helps us raise funds to upgrade our projection system to Digistar 2025, ensuring we can continue to inspire wonder among visitors for years to come. Our current system has served us well but is showing its age — and your support is helping keep the stars shining bright!
💫 Thank you to all who’ve already contributed — whether through donations or by sharing our campaign with family and friends. Every bit makes a difference.
Stay tuned… #GivingTuesday is coming soon, and we’ve got something special planned!

☀️🕐 Happy Fun Fact Friday! 🌙
Did you know Daylight Saving Time isn’t based on astronomy — but it feels like it is?
Humans move the clock to “save” sunlight, but the real reason days get longer or shorter comes from Earth’s 23.5° tilt and its orbit around the Sun. 🌍✨
So when you “fall back” or “spring forward,” you’re really just syncing with the sky’s seasonal dance! 🌞🌌
