Happy Thoughtful Thursday, everyone!

"In case you didn't know, the moon reaches the new moon phase tonight! Therefore, if the weather cooperates, it would be an ideal night for stargazing! You don't NEED to use anything fancy to see some cool stuff, just your eyes, a sky map/star finder, and some patience!

Today, 1-28, is known as Christa McAuliffe Day. Christa McAuliffe made history as the 1st teacher & civilian to go to space. Unfortunately, McAuliffe was aboard the Challenger shuttle when it experienced a catastrophic event taking the lives of the entire crew on January 28, 1986

It's Moon Fact Monday! 2025 will be a fun year for our Moon. We will see 12 full moons, 3 supermoons, & 2 lunar eclipses. In fall 2025, the moon will be the focus of the Artemis II mission! Be sure to keep your eye on the night skies (& our social media!) for more info.

Here's the schedule for the week! And, a new pair of Saturday shows to celebrate February!
#wherethestarshangout

We have a pair of great shows and a warm planetarium...what else could you need for this January Saturday?! Tickets are $5 per person & can be purchased at hdplanetarium.ticketleap.com. We always highly suggest purchasing tickets ahead of time. But, walk-ins are welcome.

It's a great time to search for Orion's hunting dogs! The stick-figure-dog-shaped constellation Canis Major (Big Dog) is easy to spot, standing on the tip of its tail in the SE a few hours after sunset, below Orion the Hunter. It has the brightest star in the sky, Sirius.

"Just a reminder that the we will not be offering the ""As an Astronomer"" tonight, due to a scheduling conflict. We apologize for the confusion and will happily share on social media if we will offer it another time.

Yesterday, we reminded followers the benefits of becoming a FRIEND of the Planetarium. Besides free shows, here's another great perk...beginner stargazing kits for families to check out and borrow to give it a try for FREE! Be sure to contact us with any questions you may have

Do you want to become our FRIEND? Our memberships run from Spring Equinox 25 to Spring Equinox 26. If you sign up now, you'll receive 2 extra months of free planetarium fun! Call, email, or check out our website for info. Feel free to share with others, the more, the merrier!

Here are some wise words from Martin Luther King Jr for your Monday morning...

Check out our schedule for this week!
FYI: If you've been following along with the Waukesha JanBoree brochure, you may have noticed that we were scheduled for a Citizen Science program on Thursday 1/23. This will not be offered this year, due to scheduling conflicts.

We're celebrating JanBoree today! From 11am-2pm, we'll feature the show "Mysteries of Your Brain." It will run every 30 min. & is FREE for visitors.
The planetarium is one of many locations that has special activities scheduled throughout the day and over the next week.

Happy Fun Fact Friday!
We haven't quite survived a full month of winter...yet...but it probably seems longer to most of us. 🤪But, let's all be grateful that we are experiencing winter on Earth versus another planet! Did you know that winter lasts 21 YEARS on Uranus?! Whoa 🤯

Our red planetary neighbor, Mars, is shining particularly brightly these days. Today, it reaches opposition. What does this mean? This is when Mars lies directly opposite the Sun, and is visible all night long! Mars will appear light orange in color.
Be sure to take a peek!

Don't forget that we have a public show today at 11am! Wilbear's Adventure is one of our original shows, but it's a fantastic one. And, like usual, our show will be followed by a local star talk from one of our Planetarium Educators!
Tickets are $5.00/person!

Looking forward to a fun week!
Check out our happenings this week. And, we'll be participating in Waukesha JanBoree this Saturday, offering FREE planetarium shows of a new program to us, """"Mysteries of Your Brain!""""
Join us if you can!
